A Delegation from Lumbini Buddhist University of Nepal visited SHUPL

On May 10th, Pan Mutian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SHUPL, and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection met with a delegation from the Lumbini Buddhist University of Nepal. The delegation includes TILAK RAM ACHARYA, Vice-Chancellor and Provost of Lumbini Buddhist University, HARI SHARAN CHAKHUN, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and KUMAR KHADKA, Director of International ExchangeThe meeting was attended by Ouyang Meihe, Head of the International Affairs Office.



The two sides held talks on the cooperative construction of the Confucius Institute (Chinese language classroom), the 2+2 program for Nepalese students to study in SHUPL, and the recruitment center for South Asian students. In the next step, detailed plans will be made to promote the implementation of these programs.

 


On May 11th, Luo Ligang, Vice President of Shanghai University Of Political Science and Law, met with the delegation. Prof. Luo extended a warm welcome to Mr. TILAK RAM ACHARYA and his delegation and introduced to the delegation the development of SHUPLs discipline construction, the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents, and the development of foreign cooperation and exchanges. He said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors with a long history of people-to-people exchanges and profound friendship. He looked forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

 

TILAK RAM ACHARYA expressed his sincere gratitude for the reception of SHUPL and introduced the historical development, school setting, and discipline construction of Lumbini Buddhist University. He wished that the two sides could carry out more cooperation in academic research, mutual visits between teachers and students, and the construction of professional courses.

 

The delegation made a campus tour. After the visit, KUMAR KHADKA delivered a lecture titled Chinese Classics Spread in South Asia and Their Characteristics” to the teachers and students of SHUPL.

 


On May 12th, the delegation came to the School of Language and Culture (School of International Exchange) for an exchange discussion on international student training, mutual visits between teachers and students, and Chinese language learning.

 


In 2022, SHUPL signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Lumbini Buddhist University of Nepal. This visit is the first visit by the Lumbini Buddhist University of Nepal to SHUPL since the establishment of the partnership between the two universities. It is of great significance to promote in-depth cooperation between the two universities.
